Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
Beta service
umbra.vote is currently in public beta. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uptime, data persistence, or uninterrupted access during the beta period. Features may change, be added, or removed without notice.
Who can use umbra.vote
Anyone can create or respond to surveys on umbra.vote. No account or registration is required. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you are under 13 years of age, you may not use this service.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use umbra.vote to:
- Create surveys that promote illegal activity, violence, harassment, or discrimination
- Collect personally identifiable information through survey questions
- Attempt to deanonymize respondents or circumvent privacy protections
- Submit automated or bot-generated responses
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, blockchain, or proof infrastructure
- Use the service for spam, phishing, or deceptive practices
We reserve the right to remove surveys or restrict access for violations, though note that on-chain data cannot be modified once recorded.
Blockchain and immutability
Survey responses are recorded on the Midnight blockchain using zero-knowledge proofs. Once a response is submitted and confirmed on-chain, it cannot be modified or deleted by anyone — including Lovelaces LLC. Aggregate tallies are permanently public.
Survey metadata (titles, questions, configuration) is stored on our servers and may be removed at our discretion or upon request from the survey creator.
Survey creator responsibilities
If you create a survey, you are responsible for the content of your questions and any eligibility criteria you set. You understand that responses are anonymous and cannot be traced to individuals. You agree not to design questions that attempt to collect personal information that could identify respondents.
Intellectual property
Survey content (questions, descriptions) belongs to the survey creator. Response data (aggregate tallies) is public on the blockchain and not owned by any party. The umbra.vote platform, design, and code are the property of Lovelaces LLC.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lovelaces LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of umbra.vote. This includes but is not limited to: loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from reliance on survey results.
The service operates on a third-party blockchain network (Midnight) over which we have limited control. We are not responsible for network outages, transaction failures, or changes to the underlying blockchain protocol.
Cost
umbra.vote is free to use during the beta period. Transaction fees on the Midnight blockchain are paid by Lovelaces LLC on behalf of users. We reserve the right to introduce pricing in the future, with advance notice.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
